Mental World Cup

 

1) Award

A) Winner of regular match

B) Winner of speed match

*Only 19x19 game board

*Winners will be awarded a trophy

2) Qualifications for participation

A) Anyone of sound mind and body may compete

B) All ranks, beginner and expert alike, are welcome to compete

C) No discrimination against age, sex, or ethnicity

D) Any participant under the age of 12 must produce parental permission

 

3)Tournament

A) Primary Round

* 3 states per division, except last 2 divisions will contain 4 states (all 50 states)

B) Second Round

* 8 divisions left to compete

 

 

 

C) Third Round

* 4 Divisions compete on real boards

D) Final Round

* 2 people compete for ultimate mental world cup on real baduk board

 

 

Rules:

1. Black Player will get 6.5 house disadvantage

2. Time

a] 30 minutes per player for regular game

b] 5 minutes per player for speed game

c] 3 sets of 30 seconds for each player when each respective primary time expires

Methods of Tournament:

On Line

Players must pass the final Regional Match for each division. The final winner will participate in the primary match. Regional match will be done on the internet to eliminate the unqualified players. The TBA program will be used for this match.

The Primary and Secondary Round will be online through the TBA Association program

All information regarding the tournament will be posted on the website “www.ohtc.com”

 

 

Off Line

* Semi-Finals and Finals will be in Dallas, TX on real boards and in person

* The Final Winner will be determined in a 3 game series match

* Speed games will also be conducted in a 3 game series, per match. Speed games will begin with the semi-finalists

Etiquette

* All players will maintain good temper during any official match

* No smoking, talking, or disruptive behavior allowed

Judges

* Judges will be persons of the general public whom have extensive baduk experience.

* Asst. Judges (those who will conduct the timers) will be volunteers

Visit http://www.ohtc.com, then click “Baduk, then click on the appropriate corresponding flag for your language, and finally click on the Tournament link to register yourself.

Program download and installation:

1. visit www.ohtc.com

2. Click on the baduk launch button

3. Install the TBA BadukLife Program on your computer. Window XP or Windows 2000 is recommended for best performance. Korean language support is available in the program.

Method to play

1. Log into the program with the user name and password you received from TBA.

2. Look at the button in the lower right corner, and you will see the division that you belong to. Now, you should play with anyone in the room, at any time. The Program will keep all your records of play between certain tournament season. We will notify you with a new user name and password if you move on to the next round.

3. Primary round between certain tournament season. The play method will be the same as before (start with step 1,) and you will receive notification if you move up to the next round.

4. Secondary round will be played between certain tournament season. Repeat step number 1. If you win, you will receive notification via e-mail for the semi-finals. Then you must come to Dallas, TX in order to compete in person.

The winner of the secondary round will receive notice by e-mail. That winner must participate in the offline tournament in Dallas, TX
